INFORMAL, GENERAL DISCUSSIONS OF HYPOTHETICAL CASES
I provide educational hypothetical case discussion for psychologists and other psychotherapists, on an informal basis. I'm a generalist with a humanistic, neo-Rogerian view, who thinks Irv Yalom's book The Gift of Therapy is a great guide for us therapists. I've seen kids ages 5 and up, done of lot of adult group psychotherapy, seen individudals of all ages, families, and couples. I enjoy working with sexual minorities, and have a special care for beginning psychotherapiss. One of my biggest influences is Milton Erickson, and clinical hypnosis is a part of my practice. Trauma recovery is an important focus. I'm an old man now, and seniors have become a special group for me
I'm likely in a time zone different from yours. My legal residence is Minnesota, but I frequently travel in Asia. As a convenience to international therapists, I schedule all appointments using ICT, or Indochina Time, so you'll have to translate that to your time zone, and don't forget Daylight Savings Time -- which doesn't affect ICT.
For scheduling, please contact my manager, psychotherapist Nicholas O'Madden, who can answer just about any question. (nickomadden@yahoo.com). Of course you can contact me too, davidmcpheephd@gmail.com. Nick handles scheduling. He can also advise about donations, and so can I.
I'm available for educational conversations with psychotherapists I meet on Quora or other media. I don't charge for my services, and psychotherapists make a donation to a charity I support. Nick or I can explain the details.
Although this service has been incorrectly called “supervision,” it is not supervisory or administrative in the usual way and simply means looking at hypothetical cases together informally. In no way does it suggest that I take on any responsibility for any clinician, client or case: indeed clients and cases are typically presented hypothetically or as composites, with no identifying information, as bases for informal educational discussions.
I prefer regularly scheduled conservations, typically weekly or bi-weekly for a period of time, vs. ad-hoc sessions. There is also a monthly group supervision session for practicing psychotherapists, run by the members and me. There is no charge for this session.
Our informal discussants also meet as a group, on an informal basis for various educational programs , for example in clinical hypnosis.
Group members also communicate with each other in a sometimes very active thread on LINE App, discussing hypothetical cases and other practice-related issues. There are also several special interest subgroups. Nick can advise you how to get on the thread, locally known as "Team Audacity."
LINE https://line.me/en and Zoom are our choice for video chats. If you don't have it, please download the LINE app. Please send your LINE ID to nickomadden@yahoo.com. I'll initiate the video call at your appointment time. To set your LINE ID you go to your profile on the app and select a unique name. For details, please go to https://help.line.me/ In 2025, we plan a gradual shift to Zoom for the convenience of students and consultees.
The charity is Project WIN. www.project-vin.blogspot.com. Nick or I can explain how to contribute.
